Estancia 10, Santiago Garden Grove 0: The Eagles, the defending CIF Division 6 champions, opened the high school baseball season Saturday with a win. Miles Moyer pitched the first six innings, allowing three hits and striking out five for Estancia.
Cole Lefebvre was 3 for 5 with two runs scored, an RBI and a double. Jason De La O was 3 for 3 with 3 runs, four RBI, a double and a triple and John Uchytil was 1 for 4 with three runs scored, an RBI, double and a stolen base.
Estancia 16, Santiago Garden Grove 1: The Eagles won the second game of the doubleheader.
Andrew Mits pitched four innings, allowing a run, no earned runs and two hits and struck out six.
Lefebvre was 4 for 5 with a run scored, three RBI and two doubles; Uchytil was 4 for 5 with two runs scored, four RBI and a double; Miles Moyer was 2 for 5 with two run scored, an RBI and a double, Sawyer Atkinson was 2 for 3 with a run scored and Jake Humphries was 2 for 3 with three runs scored, two RBI and a double.
Northwood 7, El Toro 3 (9 innings): Bobby Bangs started for Northwood going five innings, giving up no runs on six strikeouts with no walks. Spencer Collins-Williams threw a scoreless sixth inning before giving way to Casey Euper who went the final three innings to pick up the win, according to Northwood Coach Doug Euper.
Northwood was led by the Harper brothers. Adam Harper went 3 for 5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Joseph Harper also went 3 for 5, with two RBI. Kai Mo went 2 for 5 with two RBI and a run scored.
Irvine 5, St. Margaret’s 1: The Vaqueros opened the season with a victory. Joon Lee pitched six innings for Irvine allowing five hits and one run and struck out 10. Sullivan Spivey pitched one inning allowing one hit and strick out one. Henry Jeong, Nathan Sasaki, Ian Hew, Adam Valencia and Owen Featherston all had RBI.
Foothill 2, Harvard-Westlake 0: The Knights captured a win at the PBR California Showcase Saturday. Andrew Parker got the win, pitching a complete game and striking out four. Ezekiel Vargas was 1 for 4 and Ty Cowley and Noah Macalino each scored a run.
