Dr. Monte E. Perez has been appointed as interim president of Fullerton College. Perez begins at Fullerton College on July 5, 2022 while a search is conducted for the permanent position.
Perez recently retired from Los Angles Mission College where he served as President from 2011 to 2021.
“Dr. Perez has been a consistent and steady force of influence and change in education throughout his entire career, particularly for communities that have been historically underrepresented in higher education,” said Dr. Byron D. Clift Breland, Chancellor of the North Orange County Community College District. “I have no doubt that he will bring his spirit of collaboration and professional integrity to Fullerton College.”
Perez began his higher education career serving as the assistant director of Admissions at Stanford University. Subsequently, he served as the director of the Educational Opportunity Program and Student Support Services at California State University, Los Angeles while also teaching Political Science and Chicano Studies. In 1997, Dr. Perez joined the National Hispanic University in San Jose, CA as the director of Institutional Research and was promoted to provost and vice president of Academic Affairs. In 2008, Dr. Perez became the President of the Moreno Valley Campus of the Riverside Community College District, moving on to assume the presidency of Los Angeles Mission College in 2011.

Fullerton College has an outstanding history and legacy that continues now and into the future. I look forward to working collaboratively with the Fullerton College family to ensure that our student achieve their dreams and that the communities they come from are well served.”
Dr. Perez graduated from James A. Garfield High School in East Los Angeles, obtained his bachelor’s degree in Social Science Government at California State University, Los Angeles, an his master’s and Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Southern California.
