The DCCC announced that Dr. Asif Mahmood has been added to its competitive ‘Red to Blue’ program, which arms top-tier candidates like Mahmood with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue to develop strong campaigns.

Asif Mahmood, an immigrant and doctor, stepped up to flip this Orange County toss-up district. Dr. Mahmood serves on the California Medical Board and on the board of the Valley Rescue Mission, the largest homeless shelter in Southern California. He’s facing off against Republican Rep. Young Kim, who has been complicit in Republicans’ all-out assaults on common-sense gun laws, reproductive freedom, and lower taxes for the middle-class.

Dr. Mahmood grew up in a remote village in rural Pakistan where his parents taught him that helping others is our highest calling, which inspired him to become a doctor. He is the embodiment of the American dream – he will beat Kevin McCarthy’s puppet Young Kim and defend health care, including reproductive health care, for California families.
