ANAHEIM, Calif. (February 16, 2023) – Anaheim homicide detectives have arrested Adam Galaviz, 45, and Juan Meza, 26, both of Buena Park, for the fatal shooting of Ernest Fernandez.
On April 23, 2021, at about 9:39 p.m., Anaheim PD officers responded to an Anaheim hospital regarding a patient who walked into the lobby suffering at least one gunshot wound. Based on their investigation, officers determined an additional victim may have been shot. Officers responded to the area of Grand Avenue and Graciosa Lane and discovered Ernest Fernandez deceased inside a vehicle. Officers located a crime scene nearby on the 3200 block of West Cabot Drive.
For over 22 months, homicide detectives continued to work the case and identified Adam Galaviz and Juan Meza as suspects. On February 10, around 5 a.m., Anaheim PD SWAT personnel served a search warrant on the 7600 block of Fillmore Drive in Buena Park and arrested Galaviz. Several hours later, Anaheim PD Gang Unit investigators arrested Meza in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Knott Avenue.
Galaviz and Meza were both booked into the Anaheim Detention Facility for murder and attempted murder. Galaviz and Meza are being held in lieu of $1 million bail. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Anaheim PD at 714-765-1900 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIPOCCS.
