The moon will be howling when British post-punk band Death Cult makes an appearance in Los Angeles on May 16th in the Miracle Mile area.
Goth rockers Death Cult – perhaps better known as The Cult – will be bringing the sound of the past to LA for a one-off show for all fans. As Death Cult, Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury have only performed once in the US.
They will make their Cruel World debut on May 17th, but the El Rey show will be their one LA headline performance and quite an intimate venue on May 16th – as opposed to Cruel World!
Then again, if you’re in Northern California and can’t wait, you can catch them at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco on May 14th.
The band made a splash in the US when a perfectly orchestrated record titled “Love” hit the airwaves in 1985. The record received praise thanks to its darkness and soul intensity as heard in “She Sells Sanctuary,” “Revolution,” and “Rain.”
With hints of Siouxsie Sioux, The Cure, and Bauhaus, fans absolutely loved the dark sound of the album and frontman Ian Astbury was full of charisma and intensity with his dark, soulful voice.

Death Cult was born from Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy’s previous band, Southern Death Cult, and after decades as The Cult, the two gents are reviving the Death Cult moniker.
The songs of the past are as hauntingly relevant and desired by fans all over the world as they were back in the ‘80s.

As The Cult, the duo would drop 11 full-length albums including 2022’s “Under the Midnight Sun.” In addition to the songs we adore off “Love,” The Cult gave us “Love Removal Machine,” “Wild Flower,” “Fire Woman,” “Lil’ Devil,” “Edie,” and “Sweet Soul Sister.”
Fans will be wowed by Duffy playing on his signature Gretsch White Falcon guitar. As the songwriter and lead guitarist since its formation, Duffy is known for that screaming guitar rift when he touches the strings.
Duffy and Astbury and joined by John Tempesta on drums – who has been a staple with the band the last 20 years – and Charlie Jones and Mike Mangan on bass and keyboards.
The El Rey show is all ages and will likely sell out, so get your tickets for Death Cult now!
