On April 13, 2022, a resident of the Casa Grande complex off of Denni St. in Cypress reported seeing a coyote in the neighborhood. The coyote was reportedly eating a cat in the bushes outside of the resident’s apartment.

Coyotes are wild animals that have adapted to urban and suburban life and will often hunt or scavenge for food in city streets, often using flood control channels as a sort of highway system. They have been known to attack pets, particularly cats and small dogs. Pet owners are advised to always keep their pets on a non-extendable leash while out on walks and, if possible, to feed their pets indoors.

Though coyotes are largely nocturnal, this is not universally true.
