Cypress police blotter, May 2 to May 8, 2022

May 2, 2022

Stolen/Recovered Vehicle – 8:22 a.m. – 5700 block of Corporate – Sometime over the weekend the company van was stolen. A Police Services Officer investigated the stolen van and he was able to provide a general location of where the vehicle was pinging on GPS. An Officer located the vehicle to the rear of a business, unoccupied. Upon further inspection, the Officer was able to identify at least one suspect who left their personal property in the vehicle before leaving it. The reporting party confirmed that approximately $5000 worth of tools had been taken from the van.
Pedestrian Check – 9:46 p.m. – 9000 block of Bloomfield – From a pedestrian check, a male subject was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and an outstanding warrant.

May 3, 2022

Catalytic Converter Theft – 5:28 a.m. – 10000 block of Barbara Anne – At the time of call, four suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle.
Attempted Auto Theft/Vehicle Burglary – 10:46 a.m. – 9000 block of Bloomfield – Sometime overnight, an unknown suspect attempted to steal the victim’s black Kia Optima. The victim found his vehicle with a punched ignition and his skateboard, backpack and iPad missing.

May 4, 2022

Bike Stop – 12:27 a.m. – 10000 block of Yamaha Wy. – An officer attempted a bike stop at Katella and Yamaha. The subject was last seen jumping a wall. After a five minute track, officers located the subject hiding under a vehicle. The subject surrendered to officers without incident.
Vehicle Burglary – 11:41 a.m. – 8300 block of Fountainbleau – Moments before the call, a male suspect broke the rear window of the victim’s vehicle and stole $5000 worth of cigarettes. The victim had just bought the tobacco products for his business from Costco and he believes the suspect had followed him home from Costco to commit the theft. The suspect was described as a male 6’00 200lbs wearing a hoodie, gray sweatpants and black shoes. The suspect vehicle was a dark blue Mitsubishi Outlander with no license plates
Assault/Battery – 3:31 p.m. – 9800 block of Valley View St. – Two female students got into a physical fight. A father of one of the students then assaulted the other minor female as well. These assaults did not result in any injuries. Both the father and his daughter left prior to police response.

May 5, 2022

Traffic Stop – 10:31 a.m. – 5800 block of Lincoln Ave. – From a traffic stop, a male subject was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license.
Attempted Vehicle Burglary – 6:04 p.m. – 9200 block of Bloomfield – At approximately 9:40 a.m., an unknown suspect attempted to break into a vehicle via the door lock, damaging the lock. No entry was made.

May 6, 2022

Arrest – 12:16 a.m. – 10000 block of Delano – From a call for service, a female subject was arrested for domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon. An Emergency Protection Order was granted and served.
Burglary – 7:27 a.m. – 9000 block of Walker St. – From a call for service of a subject being inside the victim’s residence, a male subject was arrested for burglary and criminal threats. The subject, who was a transient and unknown to the victim, had entered the residence and then threatened the homeowner while concealing a hooked blade. Additionally, he would not provide identification and Los Alamitos Police Department assisted with the fingerprint reader.
Court Order Violation – 11:39 a.m. – 5200 block of Orange Ave. – Officers responded to the parking lot regarding a call for service of a subject who was in violation of a restraining order and present in the parking lot, inside the victim’s vehicle. After an hour standoff, and assistance from Orange County Sheriff’s Department K9s, an arrest team extradited the suspect from the vehicle and the subject was arrested for violation of a court order, resisting arrest, and drug paraphernalia.

May 7, 2022

Transient – 7:10 a.m. – 4800 block of Katella Ave. – From a call for service of a transient in the area, an officer located him and discovered he had a no-bail warrant out of LASO for vehicle theft. As a courtesy, we transported him to LASO Lakewood, where LASO deputies handled the booking.
Vehicle Burglary – 7:40 a.m. – 4100 block of Via Norte – Between 05/06/22 at 12:30 p.m. and 05/07/22 at 7:00 a.m., unknown suspect burglarized the victim’s vehicle via a smashed window and stole tools. The loss was valued at $3000.
Suspicious Vehicle – 11:27 a.m. – 4700 block of Lincoln Ave. – From a call for service of a suspicious vehicle, an Officer located a male subject in possession of over 150 pounds of illegal fireworks and his 3 year old child was within arm’s reach of the explosives. He was arrested for possession of dangerous fireworks, and felony child endangerment. OC Bomb Squad responded to collect the fireworks and CPS was notified.

May 8, 2022

Suspicious Property – 3:15 p.m. – 5600 block of Lime – Officers responded to a call involving a grenade that was found in a garage by a relative of the deceased resident. OC Bomb Squad and OCFA HazMat teams responded and took custody of the device.
Suspicious Subject – 10:15 p.m. – 6900 block of Katella Ave. – From a call for service regarding a subject pounding on the windows, a female subject was arrested for warrants.
