Cypress police blotter, August 8 to August 14, 2022

The items shown below are selected from the logs of the Cypress Police Department. The police blotter is not a comprehensive listing of police-related incidents in the city, and no inference of guilt is implied in showing any item in the Cypress police blotter.

August 8, 2022

Pursuit – 12:46 a.m. – Spring/Claremore (Long Beach) – From a license plate reader hit in Los Alamitos’s area, an officer located the vehicle. When he attempted to stop the vehicle, a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit terminated at the 605 and Imperial in the City of Norwalk, when the suspect vehicle crashed into an uninvolved vehicle. Five subjects were detained, and ultimately, the driver was taken into custody for felony evading and possession of a stolen vehicle. No injuries to the suspects or officers and the uninvolved driver had complaint of pain only.
Arrest – 8:25 a.m. – 5700 block of Orange Ave. – From a call for service regarding a transient walking in traffic with a shopping cart, a male subject was arrested for a no bail warrant. 

August 9, 2022

Bike Stop – 10:29 p.m. – Lincoln/Moody – From a bike stop, a male subject was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

August 10, 2022

Arrest – 12:39 a.m. – 10400 block of Denni St. – From a call of a transient who was seen urinating on the business and was refusing to leave, a male subject was arrested for trespassing. The subject was previously advised of trespassing on two occasions.
Traffic Education – 7:30-9:30 a.m. – Cypress Schools – Cypress officers, as well as officers from Fountain Valley PD and Westminster PD, assisted with traffic education and enforcement at Cypress schools.
Traffic Collision – 4:36 p.m. – Ball/St. Charles – A fourteen-year-old female was riding her bicycle home from school and struck the guy-wire on a utility pole causing minor injuries.
Burglary – 5:14 p.m. – 9700 block of Cedar Ct. – The victim returned home after spending over a month out of the country to her house being burglarized and ransacked. The loss was approximately $30,000 in miscellaneous personal property.
DUI – 10:15 p.m. – Bloomfield/Myra – From a call regarding a possible drunk driver swerving in and out of lanes of traffic, an officer located the vehicle at Bloomfield and Myra and conducted a traffic stop. Upon contact with the driver, she was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The subject was arrested for DUI.

August 11, 2022

Traffic Stop – 2:08 a.m. – Lincoln/Western – From a traffic stop, a subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

August 12, 2022

Grand Theft – 1:33 p.m. – 6800 block of Katella Ave. – Two male subjects stole approximately $1800 in clothing.  A female driver was waiting in a silver 4-dr Nissan Altima or Sentra.
Transient Housing Assistance – 1:41 p.m. – 5200 block of Orange Ave. – A transient responded to the police department front lobby requesting resource assistance.  The Homeless Liaison Officer transported the person to a homeless shelter.

August 13, 2022

Arrest – 7:17 a.m. – 4300 block of Casa Grande Cir. – After extensive follow-up from a counseling call the previous week, police identified two suspects possibly involved in a vehicle burglary in Anaheim. The shift responded to the listed address for a probation compliance check and one subject was arrested for possession of stolen property (from the vehicle burglary), misappropriation of property, fraudulent use of an access card, and possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia. A female subject was arrested for misappropriation of property.
Stolen Vehicle/Kidnapping – 4:59 p.m. – 6000 block of Lincoln Ave. – A driver was dropping off a guest at the listed address and exited the driver’s seat in order to open the sliding van door for the guest. As he did this, an unknown female entered the unoccupied driver’s seat and stole the vehicle, with two passengers still inside the vehicle. She drove around and ultimately parked the vehicle. As she did this, one of the passengers took the keys to prevent her from driving further and she fled the area on foot. The vehicle was recovered and all victims were unharmed. The company vehicle headquarters was contacted for dash-cam footage and they will provide it at a later time. CSI conducted and vehicle released to the owner. The suspect was not located or identified.

August 14, 2022

DUI – 4:26 a.m. – Valley View/Orangewood – While coming back from Orange County Jail, a Police Services Officer observed a vehicle that was swerving along the road. Officers located the vehicle and determined the driver was not DUI, but had numerous sawzalls and blades in the vehicle and had priors for vehicle theft.  At the time the log was written, officers were still investigating.
Petty Theft – 2:20 p.m. – 6800 block of Katella Ave. – A female subject attempted to steal merchandise but was detained by loss prevention.  She was arrested for shoplifting and multiple warrants. Animal Control responded to take possession of a kitten.
