The items shown below are selected from the logs of the Cypress Police Department. The police blotter is not a comprehensive listing of police-related incidents in the city, and no inference of guilt is implied in showing any item in the Cypress police blotter.
August 29, 2022
Traffic Stop – 12:52 p.m. – Ball/Grindlay – From a traffic stop on suspicious vehicle seen leaving the motel, police contacted the driver. During a vehicle search, police located a loaded stolen firearm hidden beneath the center console. Police also located 17.7 grams of methamphetamine and a half kilo of cocaine inside of the vehicle. The driver was arrested for numerous felony charges, including being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm, and possession of a controlled substance for sale.
Search Warrant – 7:00 a.m. – 5600 block of Lincoln Ave. – From arrest during night shift, police served a search warrant on a room at the motel and seized approximately 50 pounds of marijuana and ammunition. These items were associated to the subject from the previous incident, who was on parole.
Burglary – 10:44 a.m. – 5900 block of Lakeshore – At approximately 3:30 a.m., a male suspect forced entry through the rear door, loaded up large bins with hand tools and wheeled them out on a dolly to a second suspect, who was waiting in a silver van, possibly a Honda Odyssey, which had no plates. The loss was valued at $5000 and the business provided video of the crime.
Foot Pursuit – 10:21 p.m. – Knott/Ball – Police attempted to conduct a bike stop on a known subject who is on probation. Upon contact, subject dropped his bike and backpack and fled the scene on foot. The subject jumped over several walls and officers gave chase. A brief area search was conducted with negative results. Police searched the backpack subject was carrying and located Methamphetamine inside. Police collected the property and booked it as evidence, and will forward a police report to the OCDA’s office for filing.
August 30, 2022
Auto Theft – 10:20 a.m. – 5000 block of Lincoln Ave. – After a suspect who rented a car failed to return the rental car within the limits of the contract, the reporting party reported it stolen. The vehicle, a gray 2022 Toyota 4Runner, last pinged in Sonora, Mexico in July of this year.
Disturbance (Family) – 8:45 p.m. – 11500 block of Cozumel – From a call of a family disturbance, police located and detained the suspect walking on Valley View south of Orangewood. During a search of his person, they located several gas cards and an employee ID card from a particular company. Being that this company has previously been a victim of numerous vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts, police conducted further investigation and were able to gain consent to search the suspect’s bedroom at his residence. During the search of the suspect’s bedroom, police located additional stolen property taken from the victim company, including employee files, vehicle information, license plates from company vehicles and other electronics. Additionally, there was a large amount of stolen property from other businesses in Cypress. Detectives responded and assisted with the investigation. The male subject was arrested for possession of stolen property and for being a felon in possession of ammunition.
August 31, 2022
Petty Theft – 9:13 a.m. – 9300 block of Grindlay St. – At approximately 9 a.m., a male subject reportedly stole a black e-bike with a cell phone holder on the crossbar. The bike was left unlocked and was valued at $600.
Arrest – 12:16 a.m. – 5800 block of Lincoln Ave. – Loss prevention observed a male subject steal $400 in merchandise and flee the store. He was located by officers at Los Altos and Los Nietos, where he was arrested for shoplifting.
September 1, 2022
Burglary – 4:09 a.m. – 11700 block of Valley View St. – Officers responded to an alarm at the business and observed a window smash to the front door. The suspects were gone on the arrival of police. Surveillance video revealed the same suspects from the burglary that occurred to the adjacent business on August 23.
Stolen License Plates – 1:00 p.m. – 6000 block of Palau St. – Between 08-30-22 and today, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s license plates, possibly from his open garage.
Court Order Violation – 3:44 p.m. – 9800 block of Novara Ln. – A known suspect came to the residence and removed surveillance cameras and made a vague threat to the father over telephone that he would come kill him tonight. The suspect left the residence prior to the arrival of police, and officers were unable to locate the subject. An officer will be conducting follow up in regards to the service of the order, as records return shows it has not been served, which contradicts family statements.
September 2, 2022
Court Order Violation – 1:56 a.m. – 10400 block of Denni St. – The victim’s ex left a bag containing miscellaneous items on top of her vehicle and duct taped a cell phone to the underside of her vehicle. The items were collected and a report was taken. Officers were unable to locate the subject on an area check.
Commercial Burglary – 2:41 a.m. – 6000 block of Cerritos Ave. – An unknown suspect(s) shattered the front glass door and stole $300 cash from the register. The manager would review surveillance footage for suspect information.
September 3, 2022
Injury Traffic Collision – 2:15 p.m. – Katella/Holder – A vehicle collided into a tree on the center median of Katella west of Holder. The driver was trapped in the vehicle and the “Jaws of Life” were utilized to extricate him. Public Works was notified regarding the tree. A SigAlert was made for westbound traffic on Katella at Holder for approximately 30 minutes.
DUI Checkpoint – 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. – Katella/Cara – The checkpoint resulted in 815 vehicles screened, three DUI arrests, fifteen license-related arrests, five tows, and four warrant arrests.
September 4, 2022
Burglary – 4:15 a.m. – 4000 block of Ball Rd. – Four male subjects wearing face masks, gloves, and dark
clothing, broke the front door glass, cut the security gate, made entry, and ransacked the entire store. They took cash and other miscellaneous items, and fled out the front into a black SUV. Stolen property was strewn about the parking lot as they fled into the vehicle.
Grand Theft – 7:24 p.m. – 6800 block of Katella Ave. – Three male suspects entered the store wearing surgical masks. The suspects exited through a fire escape with $3500 in kitchen appliances. The suspects are known to the location for the theft of approximately $75,0000 in merchandise throughout Orange County.
