August 1, 2022
Suspicious Subject – 10:54 a.m. – Saratoga/Laurel – The reporting party stated a male subject was looking into cars and casing homes in the area. When an officer attempted to make contact with the subject, he became uncooperative and lunged at him, causing the officer to deploy his Taser. The subject was arrested for resisting arrest.
Assault – 2:29 p.m. – 5900 block of Corporate – A female subject assaulted the manager after being denied a room. Police located the subject outside. When the officer attempted to detain her, she struck him multiple times with her fist and feet. She was arrested for assault and battery, and assault and battery on a police officer.
August 2, 2022
Arrest – 9:35 a.m. – Global/Holder – The California Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle at the 5/22 Freeways. During the contact, it was learned that at 3:30 a.m., a domestic violence had occurred in a vehicle near Holder and Global. Cypress Police responded and arrested a male subject for felony domestic violence.
Arrest – 5:30 p.m. – 4700 block of Lincoln Ave. – A male subject was arrested for two outstanding no-bail warrants, possession of brass knuckles and counterfeit bills.
August 3, 2022
Robbery – 10:24 a.m. – 5400 block of Katella Ave. – A male subject was contacted by loss prevention after stealing a cell phone from a display case. When contacted, he advised that he had a gun and fled the area. Cypress Police located the subject at Katella and Cara Way. He was arrested for robbery and possession of a controlled substance. No weapon was located.
Suspicious Package – 3:43 p.m. – 9800 block of Grindlay St. – The resident received a suspicious package on the porch and brought it inside. Once inside, she immediately felt ill with a burning sensation in her lungs. OCSD Bomb Squad and OCFA Hazmat responded. The package was found to contain paint thinner.
August 4, 2022
Vehicle Burglary – 12:43 p.m. – 6400 block of Katella Ave. – Within the last few hours, an unknown suspect smashed the passenger window to the victim’s vehicle and stole a bag containing a computer.
Arrest – 4:55 p.m. – 10000 block of Valley View St. – From a call for service of a transient seen in the restroom with a shotgun, an officer ultimately contacted and arrested a male subject for outstanding warrants. Prior to the subject complying with orders to exit the restroom, officers evacuated the entire grocery store and an officer with a K9 assisted with multiple announcements. During a search of the restroom after the incident, an officer located a disassembled and broken BB shotgun hidden in a covered cavity in the restroom wall.
August 5, 2022
Vehicle Burglary – 7:59 a.m. – 6400 block of Saipan St. – Sometime overnight, an unknown suspect forced entry into the victim’s vehicle and stole a jacket, gas card, and a tool bag valued at $900.00.
Traffic Stop – 10:53 p.m. – Valley View/Lincoln – From a traffic stop, a male subject was arrested for possession of narcotics, paraphernalia, a ghost gun, and felon in possession of a firearm.
August 6, 2022
Vehicle Fire – 8:03 a.m. – 9600 block of Paseo de Oro – Officers responded to a fully-engulfed vehicle fire. OCFA believed the fire to be accidental in nature, starting inside the vehicle. It was reported that a transient had been living in the vehicle but that person was unable to be located. The vehicle was thoroughly checked before being towed from the scene.
Vehicle Fire – 11:36 a.m. – 9300 block of Holder St. – Officers responded to a vehicle fire in the carport. The vehicle owner stated the vehicle had overheated prior to parking it in the carport. The vehicle subsequently caught fire, engulfing the carport and eventually three additional vehicles. OCFA arson investigators determined the overheating vehicle was indeed the source of the fire. A building inspector responded and yellow-tagged the carport.
Stolen Vehicle/Grand Theft – 7:12 p.m. – Philo/Walker – An unknown suspect(s) stole a Ford F450 truck with a trailer (with a caterpillar and grinder) from the storage lot and then upon leaving the lot, the trailer became unhitched and was stuck in the number two lane of southbound Walker just north of Lincoln. The crime occurred between 2:00 p.m. and the time of the original call at 5:27 p.m.
August 7, 2022
Arrest – 1:06 a.m. – 8800 block of Watson – From a call for service, a parolee–at–large was arrested after he was found to be prowling on the apartment balcony. He refused to come down from the balcony, and after OCFA and Seal Beach K9 arrived on scene, he surrendered and came down the balcony with the help of a ladder. He was booked on resisting/delaying an officer, prowling, and the parole hold.
Petty Theft – 8:50 p.m. – 6800 block of Katella Ave. – The victim’s purse was stolen from the outdoor table by an unknown suspect. The purse and contents were valued at $3000.
