Crazy Town singer Shifty Shellshock dies at 49

Shifty Shellshock, the frontman of the band Crazy Town, best known for their hit “Butterfly” has passed away.

The singer, whose real name is Seth Binzer passed away at his Los Angeles home on June 24 according to the L.A. County Medical Examiner’s online records.

The cause of death has not been revealed.

In 1999, Binzer and Bret Mazur founded Crazy Town about seven years after the pair first met. Their hit “Butterfly” from their album “The Gift of Game” peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 2001.

The band broke up shortly after their 2002 album “Darkhorse” was released. The album did not sell as well as their first.

Open about his drug addictions, Binzer appeared on two seasons of the VH1 reality series “Celebrity Rehab.” He later appeared on the follow-up show “Sober House” for two seasons as well.

Binzer is survived by his three children Halo, Gage and Phoenix.
