The City of Irvine is excited to announce the launch of the Cool City Challenge program, Cool Irvine, on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 4:30 p.m.
Irvine is one of three cities, along with Los Angeles and Petaluma that will each receive $1 million to support the Cool Block neighborhood program and work on climate moonshot strategy — an ambitious, exploratory, and ground-breaking approach to reach community-wide and inclusive sustainability.
Join Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan and special guest Congresswoman Katie Porter to engage with the creators of the Cool City program, Irvine’s Climate Moonshot Team, and our community partners. Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet other Cool Block Leaders and help shape the Cool Irvine vision to reach carbon neutrality by 2030.
This event will be held via Zoom and is open to ALL community members interested in Irvine’s climate journey. Please save the date, and invite your friends and neighbors to join us to learn how they can be part of the Cool Irvine climate movement.
Save the Date:
For those already signed up as Cool Block Leaders, the first training opportunity is January 22, 2022. Cool Block cohorts start every two months in 2022, so Leaders can choose the timeframe that works best for you and your team.
