Congressional candidate Scott Baugh commended the Irvine City Council for their unanimous, bipartisan vote last night asking Governor Newsom to suspend the California state tax on gasoline.
“I want to thank Mayor Pro Tem Anthony Kuo for bringing this issue to a vote and the City Council for unanimously backing it,” said Baugh. “Families in our district and across our state are struggling because of runaway inflation and gas prices. Suspending the gas tax would immediately lower the price at the pump by 51 cents a gallon and bring some much-needed relief to everyone.
“Unfortunately, Newsom and the liberal super majority in Sacramento resist giving up a single dollar of revenue, even when the state has over a $30 billion surplus. This resolution and those from other cities will help turn up the pressure and force them to do the right thing for the citizens of California,” Baugh concluded.
