The City of Los Alamitos has adopted the 2022 California Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Existing Building, Fire, Historical Building, Energy, Residential, and Green Building Code, along with the 2021 International Property Maintenance Code and the 2021 International Pool and Spa Safety Code.

The State of California adopts a set of new construction codes every three years referred to as the 2022 California Building Standards Codes. The purpose of this code adoption is for Los Alamitos to formally adopt these codes as well as add local amendments to these codes. These 2022 California Building Standards Codes become effective January 1, 2023, along with the 2021 International Pool and Spa Safety Code, and the 2021 International Property Management Code with certain administrative and technical amendments based on Los Alamitos’ local conditions. The proposed administrative and technical changes mainly relate to items such as fire sprinklers, roof materials, soils conditions susceptible to liquefaction, and to address local conditions so these codes will not conflict with other sections of the Los Alamitos Municipal Code.

In addition, the suite of 2022 California Building Standards Codes can be found online at the California Building Standards Commission web site at https://www.dgs.ca.gov/BSC/Codes, or they can be viewed in person at the Development Services Department at City Hall.
