The City of Irvine hosted three community budget meetings March 21-23 to discuss the upcoming fiscal year 2023-25 budget. Staff from the City’s Administrative Services Department presented an overview of the budget process through presentations and dialogue in order to answer budget questions and gain insight into identifying community priorities. If you missed the meetings, you can view a recording online.
Meetings were held at the following times and locations:
- Tuesday, March 21 at 4 p.m.: Lakeview Senior Center
- Wednesday, March 22 at 6 p.m.: Quail Hill Community Center
- Thursday, March 23 at 6 p.m: Irvine Civic Center
Per the Irvine Municipal Code and Financial Policies, the City Manager must present a balanced budget to the City Council before July 1. The City has a two-year budget, which is developed in the context of a comprehensive five-year financial plan. The budget is both a policy document, setting strategic priorities and goals, and a financial document that dedicates resources to various programs and services based on the established priorities.
The public is invited to submit questions or comments regarding the budget to City staff at budget@cityofirvine.org.
After receiving input from the community, detailed and balanced budgets will be presented to City Commissions in April and May. Following Commission input, the proposed two-year budget and five-year plan will be presented to the City Council for approval in June 2023.
