City of Irvine Begins Offering Passport Services

Wednesday, October 15, 2025

The City of Irvine has established a designated passport acceptance facility at City Hall, providing community members with convenient access to new passport services. In partnership with the U.S. Department of State’s Passport Agency, the City will begin accepting appointments for new passport applications today.

Appointments are available on the first floor of City Hall in the Office of Records and Information on Mondays and Wednesdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with expanded hours coming in early 2026. Customers may apply for a passport book, passport card, or both. The City also offers on-site passport photos, providing a convenient and efficient experience whether customers are completing a full passport application or simply need photos taken.

The City Clerk’s Office began the process of establishing a Passport Acceptance Facility at City Hall in February 2024. Since then, staff have completed training to become certified passport agents, evaluated and prepared a location that met the State Department’s requirements, and implemented procedures to ensure a smooth and efficient application process for the community. The final step in launching the facility came Tuesday, October 14, when the City Council approved a resolution establishing a fee for passport photo services.
