CHP: Decedent identified in state property death

On August 11, 2022, the body of a previously unidentified male has been identified as 44-year-old Orion Gardner from Dana Point, California. The cause of death is currently under investigation and toxicology reports are pending from the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office.

On Sunday, August 7, 2022, at approximately 5:59 a.m., California Highway Patrol – Santa Ana Area officers were dispatched to an embankment along southbound SR-73 to southbound SR-55, for a body of a deceased male discovered behind a business on 2700 Bristol Street in the City of Costa Mesa. At the time the body was located, the unknown individual had been deceased for 9 to 12 days. The immediate and surrounding areas were searched by the officers on scene and no signs of foul play were observed.
