The results reported by the Orange County Registrar of Voters were certified on Friday, December 2.
That said, with 100% of 2,169 precincts reporting, the turnout was 54.7% of 1,817,149 registered voters. Altogether, 994,227 votes were cast. Of that total, the overwhelming number were vote-by-mail ballots: 830,162. That left 164.065 ballots cast at vote centers.
In the Cypress City Council race, the top three vote-getters will be seated. The results in Cypress were split between two candidates representing “steady as she goes” and one candidate calling for change. Challenger David Burke led the field, followed by incumbent Scott Minikus and new Member Bonnie Peat.
The three newly elected Council Members will be sworn in and seated at the Council meeting on Monday, December 12.
