It’s a night of Rock ‘n’ Roll and R&B – with a Latin flair! Join Cannibal and the Headhunters, Malo, and Thee Midniters at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) on Saturday, September 24 at 8:00 PM. Tickets start at $40.
CANNIBAL AND THE HEADHUNTERS rocked onto the music scene with the hit Land of a Thousand Dances. The group opened for The Beatles’ on the latter’s American tour and was featured in the HBO documentary The Latin Explosion. The band’s other hits include Bare Footin and Sha-Boom.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, MALO rose up the ranks of the music scene with the hits Nana and Cafe. But it was the success of the hit Suavecito that led to world tours and laid the groundwork for the group’s three-decades-plus career thus far. Malo’s records include Ascención, Coast to Coast, Señorita, and Malo Rocks the Rockies.
THEE MIDNITERS with Grammy winner Jimmy Espinoza rounds out the lineup. Among the 1960s Mexican-American musicians from East Los Angeles who pioneered the Chicano Rock movement, the group garnered national attention with the hit Whittier Blvd. and kept its grip on the music scene with Love Special Delivery, The Town I Live in, and That’s All.
