Century celebrates homecoming with decisive non-league win over Loara

Century High School’s football team celebrated homecoming and wrapped up non-league play with a 42-7 victory over Loara Friday night.

“Century hadn’t won a homecoming game in a long time,” said Coach Lance Neal. “It was a nice accomplishment for our team.”

Century (4-2) rushed for 457 yards, led by Noe Najera, who rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. Derek Carrillo rushed for 101 yards on five carries and a TD, Chuy Valdivia rushed for 75 yards on nine carries and a touchdown.

Quarterback Daniel Joya completed 7 of 14 passes for 129 yards and TD passes to Jose Jimenez and Julien Servin. He also rushed for 54 yards on four carries.

Jimenez, a safety, also had 11 lead tackles and seven assisted tackles to lead the Century defense.

Century is in the new five-team Zeta League and has a bye this week. The Centurions first league game is Friday, Oct. 11 at home against Magnolia. Loara (0-5) opens Tango League play Friday on the road vs. Anaheim.
