The City of Irvine invites the community to celebrate National Public Works Week by attending our Open House event Wednesday, May 24. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Great Park Hangar 244.
City of Irvine staff from the Public Works & Transportation and Project Delivery and Sustainability departments will be on-site to share information about their career path and how their work impacts daily operations in Irvine. Team members from the following divisions will detail current projects and noteworthy and upcoming work planned in the City: traffic operations; transportation planning and transportation review & analysis; neighborhood traffic; environmental programs; street maintenance; landscape maintenance; capital projects; development engineering; fleet services; and facilities maintenance and rehabilitation.
In addition, visitors can experience the sights and sounds of public works by viewing and interacting with equipment used by staff throughout Irvine.
Food and treats will be available for purchase from TK Burgers and Scooter’s Italian Ice. Visitors can also earn prizes and giveaways like bike bells, reusable utensil kits, and more.
Connecting the World Through Public Works is this year’s National Public Works Week theme, which occurs May 21-27, nationally.
No RSVP is required to attend the event. Hangar 244 is located at 8000 Great Park Blvd. Park in Parking Lot 2. For more information, please visit cityofirvine.org/publicworksweek or call 949-724-7365.
