Autopsy results have been released after a paranormal investigator’s unexpected death this summer while he was on tour in Gettysburg with the “Annabelle” doll.
The autopsy results for 54-year-old Daniel Rivera show that he died from a “cardiac-related” event, and his death was ruled as natural, Adams County Coroner Francis Dutrow said.
Dutrow specifically noted that “Annabelle” was not with Rivera when he died at a hotel in July.
“It is also confirmed that Annabelle was not present in the room at the time of his passing,” Dutrow said in a news release shared with Nexstar’s WHTM on Thursday.
The New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR) posted a statement on social media following Rivera’s passing, saying he “truly believed in sharing his experiences and educating people on the paranormal.” He was their senior investigator.
Rivera was in Gettysburg for the “Devils On the Run” tour with the Annabelle doll from the Conjuring movies. The doll was on display in Adams County July 11-13.
The Annabelle doll was a Raggedy Ann doll given to a student nurse as a gift, and she brought it home, NESPR’s website states. She and her roommate soon noticed strange things happening with the doll, and a “medium” reportedly told them the spirit of a girl named Annabelle possessed the doll.
The “Annabelle” movie is part of the Conjuring series that focuses on mediums Ed and Lorraine Warren’s experiences fighting the paranormal. NESPR’s website says they put the doll in a glass box to keep the evil spirit contained.
The tour was reportedly sold out each day and continued after Rivera’s passing.
