ANAHEIM, Calif. (Sept. 20, 2022) — Anaheim marked the start of construction Tuesday of 86 affordable apartments that are set to become the city’s 16th entirely affordable community when they open in 2024.

The Miraflores Apartments are under construction along Anaheim Boulevard next to Paul Revere Elementary School and just north of the Santa Ana (I-5) freeway.

Miraflores will house 86 apartments, including eight for those formerly homeless or at-risk of homelessness.

All of the apartments will be for those who make 60 percent or less of Orange County’s median income, currently at $119,100.

Miraflores will also offer onsite support services to help people and families learn new skills and better their lives.

The project joins a hotel that opened in 2020 and townhomes for sale going up on either side of Miraflores as part of the area’s larger redevelopment.

The project is another example of how high quality and professionally managed affordable housing can be part of a larger revitalization of Anaheim neighborhoods.

The Anaheim Housing Authority owns the 2.3-acre site where Miraflores is being built and has leased the site to National Community Renaissance, a nonprofit developer of affordable housing also known as National CORE.

The community will include a rooftop deck, a pool, children’s play area, urban garden, dog park and outdoor spaces.

A 1,700-square-foot community space is planned for the corner of Anaheim Boulevard and Midway Drive to serve Miraflores residents as well as the neighboring Guinida Lane neighborhood, where working families live in tight-knit apartments.

Anyone interested in living at Miraflores is encouraged to enroll in the waitlist hosted by Anaheim Housing Authority at Anaheim.net/housing. Those on the waitlist will be notified with the application window opens.
