On July 12, the Sun asked Seal Beach Police Lt. Julia Clasby about four local traffic cases.
On July 23, Clasby emailed us updates.
Sun: “What is the status of the June 22 fatal traffic collision Seal Beach Boulevard and Apollo Drive?”
Clasby: “The investigation is ongoing.”
Sun: “What is the status of the May 4 traffic collision in which the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and possession of several weapons including brass knuckles, a switchblade, and a firearm?”
Clasby: “The case should be submitted to the DA’s office shortly.”
Sun: “What is the status of the March 4 fatal DUI case involving Victor Alfonso Campos Carranza?”
Clasby: “The DA filed the following charges: PC 191.5(a), 12022.7(a), 23153(a), 12022.7(a), and 23153(b). Next appearance date in 7/25/2024.”
PC 191.5(a) is: gross vehicular manslaughter
12022.7(a): causing great bodily injury
23153(a): DUI
12022.7(a) [REPEAT]
23153(b): having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.
Sun: “What is the status of the case of Jahson Imgrund, accused of a 2023 hit-and-run that injured five individuals?”
Clasby: “Case is with DA’s Office for review.”
