Boot Barn Holdings Inc. has appointed Interim Chief Executive John Hazen as CEO permanently, effective May 5.

He was named interim last November when previous CEO Jim Conroy announced his exit to join Ross Stores Inc. (Nasdaq: ROST) as CEO. Hazen first joined the Irvine-based retailer (NYSE: BOOT) as chief digital officer in 2018.

“John is a very collaborative leader, a solid contributor to the strong culture at Boot Barn and is highly regarded within the organization,” Conroy said at the time of his departure.

“We believe that his deep industry knowledge, proven track record in digital transformation, and clear vision for the future make him exceptionally qualified for this role,” Executive Chairman Peter Starrett said in a statement.

Hazen previously worked at Ring as SVP of Commerce and Subscriptions for one year and before, he was SVP of Direct to Consumer at True Religion from 2014 to 2017. His career also includes leadership positions at Kellwood, Nike and Fox Racing.

“We will remain focused on our four strategic growth initiatives and delivering the selection and shopping experience our customers count on,” Hazen said.

Boot Barn ended Monday’s trading session down 1% at $112.31 per share with a market cap of $3.4 billion.
