The Pacific Coast League title chase is going to the wire.

Woodbridge’s baseball team kept its hopes alive for a second consecutive league crown with a must-win 4-3 victory over Beckman Thursday afternoon at Ryan Lemmon Stadium.

Beckman (19-6, 13-2) could have wrapped up a share of the crown with a victory. The Patriots had a two-game lead going into the game. But with the win by Woodbridge (18-7, 12-3) which cut the Patriots lead to one game, the race for first place is now extended to Monday when the two teams play again at 3:30 p.m.

Both teams have three games left in league play.

“I’m really proud of the way the guys battled back,” said Woodbridge Coach Ryan Brucker. “We’ve put ourselves in a position, and as a coach, that’s all you can ask is at the end of the year to have a chance to either earn a share or win league and we’re still alive. We will enjoy this one and get back to Patriot Park Monday where I know it will probably be another good one, like they always are.”
