Barbra Streisand paid tribute to her “The Way We Were” co-star Robert Redford in a heartfelt post on Instagram Tuesday afternoon.
“Every day on the set of ‘The Way We Were’ was exciting, intense and pure joy,” she penned in the lengthy caption. “We were such opposites: he was from the world of horses; I was allergic to them! Yet, we kept trying to find out more about each other, just like the characters in the movie.”
Streisand famously played Katie Morosky, while Redford played Hubbell Gardiner in the 1973 romantic drama. The film won the Oscar for Best Original Dramatic Score and Best Original Song for ‘The Way We Were.” Streisand’s performance earned her the nod for Best Actress.
“Bob was charismatic, intelligent, intense, always interesting— and one of the finest actors ever,” she continued.
The singer/songwriter said the last time to two met, they had lunch and talked about art and agreed to send each other their first drawings.
“He was one of a kind and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him,” she concluded her post saying.
Redford passed away at his Utah home on Sept. 16. He was 89 years old.
