On Monday, Assemblyman Tri Ta announced Dr. Bhikkhuni Elizabeth Vo as the 2023 70th Assembly District Woman of the Year. Dr. Vo was recognized in a floor ceremony on the Assembly Floor earlier this week.
The 70th Assembly District was overwhelmed with nominations of many deserving women, all of whom we honor for their outstanding contributions to our community.
“Dr. Vo is an accomplished Doctor of Buddhist Philosophy who has dedicated her life to the spiritual well-being of those around her. Our district is fortunate to have a woman with such amazing accomplishments living in our community,” said Assemblyman Ta.
Born in Phú Quốc Island, Việt Nam, Dr. Vo came to the United State as a child. Among her many accomplishments, Dr. Vo is a successful business leader and model who later became a Buddhist nun and established the International Buddhist Institute, where she now helps guide spiritual connections with persons of all faiths.
