Earlier this week while on patrol, police officers conducted a vehicle check, according to the Placentia Police Department.
The occupant of the vehicle was found to be on probation, subject to search and seizure of vehicle and residence.
A search of the residence located a 12 gauge shotgun, ammunition, narcotics, large amounts of cash and other drug paraphernalia.
The subject, an adult male of Placentia, was arrested and charged with multiple drug and weapons felonies.
While on probation, you generally cannot: commit any new crimes, use or possess illegal substances, drink alcohol if specified in your probation terms, miss drug/alcohol tests, fail to appear in court, change your residence or travel out of state without your probation officer’s permission, visit prohibited places or people without approval, remove security monitoring devices, possess firearms, and not pay court-ordered fines or complete community service.
Key points to remember when on probation:
- No new crimes: The most important rule is to avoid committing any new criminal offenses.
- Follow drug/alcohol restrictions: Abide by any restrictions regarding alcohol and drug use, including submitting to tests.
- Contact your probation officer: Always notify your probation officer before making significant changes like moving or traveling.
- Attend court dates: Be present at all scheduled court appearances.
- Pay fines and fees: Make all required payments as per your court order.
- Complete community service: Fulfill any court-mandated community service hours.
