An OC driver downed an Edison Pole in a single-vehicle collision this morning

This morning at around 3:46 a.m, units NB6, NE67, NE63, NT63, and NM67 responded to a single-vehicle traffic collision on the northbound side of Jamboree Road, just north of Bison Avenue, according to the Newport Beach Fire Department.

Upon arrival, the fire crews found that the vehicle had struck and downed an Edison power pole before coming to a stop against a tree.

One accident victim required extrication from the vehicle.

That patient was transported to a local area hospital in stable condition.

The scene was turned over to the Newport Beach Police Department for investigation.

Crashing into a Southern California Edison power pole can be quite costly. The replacement cost for a power pole can range from $7,500 for a street light pole to $100,000 for a transmission pole. Additionally, if the accident causes a power surge, it could damage equipment and appliances in nearby homes and businesses, potentially increasing the overall cost.
