An alleged DUI driver rammed a police car and was fatally shot in north Orange County

On November 28, 2024, at approximately 4:42 p.m., police officers were notified of a possible DUI driver in the area of Lambert and the 57 Freeway, according to the Brea Police Department.

Officers responded and found a vehicle matching the description up against a retaining wall in the westbound lanes of Lambert, east of the 57 freeway.

Officers made contact with the driver.

Officers surrounded the truck and made contact with the driver, but he proceeded to ram into a cruiser for several seconds, pushing the cruiser across lanes, according to ABC News.

A short time later, an officer involved shooting occurred. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

Per department policy, the Orange County District Attorney’s office responded to the scene to initiate an investigation into the circumstances of the officer involved shooting.
