Allergan Aesthetics, the aesthetics unit of Chicago’s biopharmaceutical giant AbbVie Inc., is laying off 202 employees in Irvine, effective July 22.

Of the 202 employees, only 19 are reported to work in-person at the Irvine location with the rest being remote, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter sent to state employment officials on May 21.

Affected positions include sales, data engineers and product mangers across various divisions.

This June, Allergan Aesthetics is expected to open its first training center under its Allergan Medical Institute in Irvine, followed by two more locations in Atlanta and Austin.
