After thrilling league finale, Los Amigos and Calvary Chapel head into CIF playoffs

Los Amigos High School’s football team scored a late touchdown Friday night to defeat Calvary Chapel, 17-16, at Segerstrom to capture the Sigma League title outright with a perfect record.

Los Amigos and Calvary Chapel are both headed to the CIF playoffs.

Los Amigos (10-0) is seeded third in Division 11 and will host Perris in the opening round Friday night at Garden Grove. Calvary Chapel (4-6) will also be home to host El Monte in a Division 13 playoff opener. The day and location has not been announced.

Quarterback Adrian Ramirez scored on a 1-yard TD in the final minute to lift Los Amigos past Calvary Chapel.

Calvary Chapel took an early lead when Waldo Castrejon scored on an 11-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Isaac Galindo had a 12-yard TD run to put Los Amigos ahead 7-6.

The Lobos added a 38-yard field goal by Erubey Ramirez to make it 10-6.

Calvary Chapel regained the lead, 13-10, on a 12-yard TD by Matt Peters. The Eagles extended their lead to 16-10 on a 37-yard field goal by Jett Rouch before the Lobos took the lead again.

Peters led Calvary Chapel in rushing with 16 carries for 120 yards. He also completed 8 of 15 for 138 yards. Quinlan Russell completed 2 of 2 passes for 14 yards.

Castrejon had 11 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown. Jorge Brito had three catches for 90 yards, catches for 90 yards and Noah Barthel two catches for 34 yards.
