Early this morning, just after midnight, a black Honda CRV traveling east on Chapman Avenue entered Plaza Park at a high rate of speed. The driver, an 18-year-old female from Rancho Santa Margarita, did not negotiate the turn in the roadway, according to the Orange Police.

She drove straight into Plaza Park and collided into the west curb, poles, a bench and the fountain. Orange City Fire medics assessed the driver and her 17-year-old passenger and determined they had no injuries.

A nitrous oxide tank was found inside the vehicle. Officers conducted a DUI investigation and determined she was not under the influence.

The driver was arrested for possession of the nitrous oxide and for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

She was booked at Orange County Jail and Public Works responded for initial repairs to the Plaza.
