The vehicle was stopped and it was determined that the driver had an open warrant for his arrest.

During a search of the vehicle, Officers discovered a loaded firearm, drugs, and cash.

The driver was a convicted felon. He was arrested for numerous firearm and drug charges.

The suspect was then transported to the Orange County Jail.

Police cars are equipped with computers and can easily search your license plate and determine if you have a criminal record. Criminals can run but they cannot hide forever…

In California, the penalties for a convicted felon caught with drugs and a gun, especially with an outstanding warrant, can be quite severe. Here are the key points:

  1. Firearm Possession: Under California Penal Code § 29800(a)(1), a convicted felon found in possession of a firearm can face up to 3 years in state prison and fines up to $10,00012. This law also applies to individuals with active felony warrants.
  2. Drug Possession: The penalties for drug possession depend on the type and amount of the controlled substance. For example, possessing a controlled substance while armed can result in additional charges and increased penalties1.
  3. Outstanding Warrant: Having an outstanding warrant can lead to immediate arrest and detention. This can complicate the legal situation further, as the individual may face additional charges related to the warrant34.

Combining these offenses can lead to cumulative penalties, making the overall sentence much longer.
