Living in the community for over 60 years, Kenny Brandyberry has always been an avid participant in local events. Brandyberry, is more than just an Elvis aficionado, he is a longtime Casa Youth Shelter board member and volunteer. Kenny, Los Alamitos/Rossmoor Americana Citizen of the 2017 Year, once again has proven that he has a “hunka-hunka burning love” for the local community.
Kenny Brandyberry, a local philanthropist, announced his support for the Youth Center, while touring the facility with former Los Alamitos Mayor Troy Edgar. “I love the mission to help our kids and I hope the community follows my lead to support The Youth Center”, said Kenny Brandyberry.
Providing music education for local children has been a mainstay of The Youth Center. For over 35 year, they have partnered with Los Alamitos Unified School District as the only provider for music education at the elementary school level. During after school programs, children can explore and learn music every day at The Youth Center. Kenny Brandyberry’s generously donated $5,000 that will provide a new music space to children after school.
After a stifled few years, the need for expansion of The Youth Center programs exploded. “We are beyond grateful for Kenny’s generosity. Support from people like him will allow us to serve more children in a newly redesigned center”, said Lina Lumme, The Youth Center Executive Director.
