Yesterday, police officers identified an individual from the State of Georgia with an outstanding nationwide felony warrant, according to the UCI School Police.
The suspect was wanted on charges included Attempted Arson 1st Degree, Terrorist Threats, First-Degree Burglary, and Aggravated Assault.
The suspect was taken into custody and confirmed to be a fugitive from Georgia. He was transported to Orange County Jail for booking.
The UCI School Police Department did not indicate why the suspect was at UCI.
Here are the charges and penalties for the offenses the suspect is wanted for in the State of Georgia:
- Attempted Arson 1st Degree:
- Definition: Knowingly damaging property by fire or explosive, including dwellings, buildings, vehicles, or other structures.
- Penalties: A fine of up to $50,000, imprisonment for 1 to 20 years, or both.
- Terrorist Threats:
- Definition: Threatening to commit any crime of violence, release hazardous substances, or burn/damage property with the intent to terrorize, cause evacuation, or create serious public inconvenience2.
- Penalties: If the threat suggests death, it is a felony punishable by a fine up to $1,000, imprisonment for 1 to 5 years, or both.
- First-Degree Burglary:
- Definition: Entering or remaining in a dwelling without authority and with the intent to commit a felony or theft.
- Penalties: Imprisonment for 1 to 20 years. Subsequent convictions carry harsher penalties.
- Aggravated Assault:
- Definition: Assault with intent to murder, rape, or rob; with a deadly weapon; or by discharging a firearm from a vehicle.
- Penalties: Imprisonment for 1 to 20 years. Assaults on public safety officers or with a firearm carry mandatory minimum sentences.
