OCVibe this month unveiled SENA, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, as the first of two hotels planned for the 100-acre mixed-use development backed by Henry and Susan Samueli.

The hotel, with more than 300 rooms, is expected to be completed in 2028 and open in 2029. It will be located on the south side of the Anaheim development, near the Honda Center at the corner of Katella Avenue and River Road.

“SENA will be both a destination in its own right and a front door to everything OCVibe is becoming — a place where exceptional design, dining, hospitality, and live experiences come together,” Executive Director of Development Dan Young said.

Denver-based Sage Hospitality Group will operate SENA, and architecture firm WATG will design it. The building will feature a reflective exterior and a terraced podium.

Rockwell Group will oversee the interiors, including a circular bar near the entrance and a lobby designed to create a changing atmosphere throughout the day.

The hotel will also feature a signature restaurant from chef José Andrés, whose concepts include the Michelin-starred é and China Poblano at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

SENA is expected to become Anaheim’s first hotel in Marriott’s Autograph Collection. Orange County has two other properties in the collection: Lido House in Newport Beach and the Inn at the Mission San Juan Capistrano.

OCVibe also plans to build a pedestrian bridge over Katella Avenue to improve pedestrian flow between the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) and Honda Center.

Soul Community Planet Plans $75 Million Buyout

Soul Community Planet is seeking investors to help finance a proposed $75 million buyout of an institutional venture partner, a move that would transform the “holistic hospitality” brand into a hotel owner and operator.

Founded by Ken and Pam Cruse in 2018, SCP has launched a crowdfunding offering to raise up to $2 million by selling Class B common stock, according to regulatory filings.

The company plans to follow the crowdfunding campaign with a larger securities offering or private placement to help finance the proposed acquisition of its institutional partner’s interests in SCP and affiliated businesses.

If completed, the transaction would give SCP ownership of five existing hotels and SCP Hospitality Manager LLC, consolidating hotel ownership, brand licensing and management under one corporate structure.

SCP currently generates revenue primarily by licensing its brand to nine hotels owned by affiliated entities. Those properties operate under three collections: SCP WildFree, SCP Hotels and By SCP. An additional SCP-branded hotel in Costa Rica operates under a separate licensing arrangement.

“We’ve spent seven years refining the Soul Community Planet brand, proving along the way that modern travelers will go out of their way and pay more for values-driven hospitality experiences rooted in measurable positive impacts,” Chief Executive Ken Cruse said.

“Now we’re offering a limited opportunity for people who share our belief in traveling with intent to invest alongside us as we grow the SCP brand,” Cruse said, adding that all types of investors are welcome from hotel guests to family offices.

SCP’s Every Stay Does Good sustainability program supports regenerative, environmental initiatives. The company reported that it achieved net carbon-negative status in 2025, offsetting eight pounds more carbon than it generated per guest stay and planting more than 330,000 trees in deforested areas.

The company’s five-year expansion strategy calls for deploying approximately $300 million in equity, supplemented by debt financing, to expand its hotel portfolio. SCP said it has previously raised $60 million from institutional investors.

By 2029, SCP aims to operate 25 to 30 hotels with more than 1,500 rooms, expand to the East Coast and launch a broader franchise program. Longer-term plans include further expansion in Costa Rica and potential residential development there.
