“I feel that we played well throughout the weekend, looking confident on both sides of the ball,” said Woodbridge Coach Mark Thompson.
“We were balanced on offense and tough on defense. We carried that momentum into the second day against a strong Agoura Hills team. However, a late score in a contested game with a well-coached Mira Costa team ended our day. This tournament is something the team looks forward to every year and a great way to start off the season.”
Woodbridge (5-1 overall) was led in the tournament by quarterback Delia Stone, who had 78 completions, 870 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, 122 rushing yards on 15 carries and two rushing TDs; wide receiver Loghan Everett, who had 25 receptions for 331 yards and three touchdowns and wide receiver Lauren Gagnier, who had 15 receptions for 169 yards and four touchdowns.
Woodbridge opened the season defeating Corona del Mar 41-13 and El Modena 32-0 in non-league games.
“Our goal this year is to perform well in league play and make a deep playoff run,” Thompson said.
