Northgate González Market opened a new food stall at its Mercado González store in Costa Mesa called Cenaduría Doña Tere this month.
The new concept is inspired by Doña Tere González’s home-cooked Mexican meals, such as pozole and enchiladas. The family matriarch’s 13 children now own and operate Northgate’s 46 grocery stores.
The Cenaduría Doña Tere puesto, or food stall, replaces the former Chiva Torta spot that initially opened along with the other 20 outposts in 2023.
The 70,000-square-foot Mercado is Northgate González’s largest store format, and a second location in Los Angeles is currently in the works. The Anaheim-based grocer generates $1.7 billion in annual revenue.
