IRATION
The reggae pop band Iration will perform along with special guest Tribal Seeds for a jam-packed evening of music. Iration embodies the spirit of a sunny, relaxing day at the beach with its melodic and calming sound. Expect to hear the band’s big hit “Summer Nights” while enjoying the refreshing summer breeze under the stars. RAYMOND SAUNDERS: FLOWERS FROM A BLACK GARDEN
For decades, artist Raymond Saunders developed his own improvisational painting practice where he mixed mediums and styles. Each of his pieces combines everyday objects, notational markings, found imagery, and drawing coming together in one cohesive piece. This exhibition displays more than 30 of Saunders’ pieces from throughout his career and investigates his artistic style and process. GOSPEL VOICES OF OC
For five seasons, Gospel Voices of OC has presented a remarkable tribute to African American artistry for Juneteenth. Produced by Debora Wondercheck and the Arts & Learning Conservatory, the powerful performance includes dance, theater, spoken word, band, orchestra, and choir all in one evening. SUMMER SOUNDS CONCERT SERIES
Every summer, the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza becomes home to an all-ages concert series featuring Southern Californian artists. Each show will include food trucks and outdoor games. As the sun sets, the performances begin. The June 12 show will be “Let Love Lead–A Celebration of Black Music” presented by Electric Root. On June 19, the Afro-diasporic band Extra Ancestral will perform. The month will close out with a performance of “Brown Sugar–The D’Angelo Experience” presented by Velvet Soul on June 26.
