A Collected Approach to Modern Office Design

John Wooden founded his eponymous firm in 2007 after gaining experience working for a prominent residential designer, which helped shape his strong design foundation. His approach is eclectic and timeless, blending new, vintage, and antique pieces into spaces that feel collected, refined, and effortlessly casual.

When designing this space, his biggest challenge was creating functional workstations while managing a large volume of materials, making organization key. Inspired by the building’s 1930s charm, he embraced the natural light and surroundings. Wooden encourages others to consider architecture for a cohesive, thoughtful result. johnwoodeninteriors.com

1. Sofa
“(This) is a vintage piece from Adrian Pearsall that we reupholstered in a soft, neutral fabric, paired with a deep blue leather base and walnut wood accents,” Wooden says.

2. Blue Chair
“The blue chair, designed by Rose Tarlow, brings a sense of personality and playfulness to the room.”

3. Coffee Table
“It has a minimal, almost Japanese-inspired aesthetic, which brings balance and calmness to the space while allowing the surrounding textures and furnishings to stand out.”

4. Poufs
“They provide flexible seating options without taking up much visual space, and their casual nature helps soften the overall design while reinforcing the relaxed, lived-in atmosphere.”

5. Throw Pillows
“They create a thoughtful contrast against the other textures and complement the art, helping tie together the overall palette and composition.”

6. Art
“The artwork, created by artist Christiansen, enhances the vintage elements while contributing to the layered, collected feeling we aim to achieve.”
