
More than 100 sailing yachts participated in the 78th annual Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race, which set off on its 125-nautical mile course on Friday, April 24.
The race began off the Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, and concluded in the charming Mexican port city of Ensenada.
Craig Reynolds and the crew of Bolt took line honors with an elapsed time of 14 hours 35 minutes and 1 second. Bolt’s corrected time of 17:16:13 also gave them First Place in UL-MAXI and the PHRF Overall Win.
According to information from Visit Newport Beach, the race attracts a diverse range of participants, from seasoned professionals to enthusiastic amateurs. The unpredictable nature of the weather adds another layer of excitement, making each race a unique and exhilarating challenge.
With over 20 classes encompassing everything from high-performance monohulls to multihulls and cruising yachts (both spinnaker and non-spinnaker), the race welcomes sailors of all stripes.
