Katie Wheeler Library Grand Opening
The Katie Wheeler Library, a three-story replica of the historic Irvine family ranch house, officially joined the Irvine Public Library system in January. With refreshed interiors, new furniture, and a curated collection of books and digital resources, the library honors its historic charm while offering programming for all ages. The grand opening is Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to noon. Read More
Celebrating Irvine’s Urban Forest
With over 61,000 city-maintained trees, Irvine has been recognized as a Tree City USA for more than 35 years. The City’s Urban Forest Master Plan lays out a 30-year vision to grow a healthier, more resilient tree canopy, aiming to increase coverage from 21.9% to 30% by 2055. Plans include planting thousands of new trees, maintaining existing specimens, and partnering with residents and local organizations to protect Irvine’s green legacy. Read More
New, Accessible Transportation Program For Older Adults
The WeRide program launched this month, providing same-day, curb-to-curb rides for adults ages 60 and older. Complementing the existing TRIPS shuttle service, this new option expands accessible transportation options allowing older adults to travel to appointments, errands, social visits, and recreational activities with ease. Membership provides access to both services, helping residents stay connected, independent, and engaged in the community. Read More

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) Cultural Immersion Sabbatical Program gives officers firsthand experience with the cultures represented in Irvine’s diverse community. Officers participate in immersive experiences abroad, gaining insight into global traditions and perspectives.
