Pets of Orange County: Meet Rooney

Golden retriever, shepherd, and Great Pyrenees mix, approximately 4 months old
Owners: Kiana and John Aldinger of Newport Beach
Rescue: Pups Without Borders

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO ADOPT ROONEY?
We both grew up with dogs and animals in our lives, so having a pet has always felt like a part of who we are. We had our last dog together for almost 10 years, and losing him last year was really hard. We’ve always been dog people, and we knew that when we were ready, we wanted to rescue again. This little one came into our lives at the perfect time. It all just fell into place and felt like he was always meant to be ours.

TELL US WHAT YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT HIS PERSONALITY.
The companionship and how pure their love is; even on days when you’re hard on yourself or not feeling your best, a dog never judges you. They just show up with the same love every single day. Having a dog has honestly taught me what unconditional love feels like.

DOES ROONEY HAVE ANY FUNNY QUIRKS?
He makes these tiny squeaks if you move him or wake him from a nap. And after a long day, he falls asleep with his mouth open. Our last dog had so many quirks that made him who he was, and we’re already seeing that this new pup has so many of his own (and even a few similar ones) that we love. It’s those little things that give a dog so much personality.
