Scene and Seen: Miracles for Kids Night of Miracles Gala

Plenty of eye candy dazzled 400-plus guests who gathered on Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach’s ocean-facing lawn for a cocktail party and silent auction that kept gala-goers on their toes bidding on more than 135 prizes. But it didn’t end there: An opportunity drawing featured a 32-carat diamond necklace. And two covetable luxury autos, a $4.25 million 2023 Quartz White Chiron Pur Sport Bugatti (one of only 60 in the world) and a $490,000 Rolls Royce Black Badge Cullinan, stood as jaw-dropping showpieces and prime Instagrammable backdrops.

It all served as a prelude to Miracles for Kids’ annual gala dinner and program, which recognized David Smith, president of Smith & Severson Builders, as the 2025 Miracle Maker for his longstanding support as a volunteer, donor, and sponsor. Two-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jordin Sparks performed with Orange County School of the Arts students, capping the night off with a high-energy 30-minute set that had party-goers dancing. It was a memorable evening and the nonprofit’s best gala yet, fetching $3.5 million. “This year’s gala was truly impactful,” said Autumn Strier, co-founder and CEO of Miracles for Kids. “Thanks to our incredible community of supporters, families in crisis can focus on what matters most: their child’s health.”

David Smith, president of Smith & Severson Builders, was honored with the 2025 Miracle Maker Award.
