On the Move: Leading Trademark and Brand Protection Team Joins BakerHostetler

BakerHostetler is pleased to announce the addition of three highly respected partners—Susan Natland, Jessica Sganga, and Katherine McMorrow—to its Intellectual Property Practice Group. They join the firm’s Global Trademark and Brand Protection team, with Natland serving as Co-Lead. Accompanying them are trademark associate Morgan Robertson and four experienced trademark professionals, making this a fantastic addition to BakerHostetler’s already impressive IP team.

Natland brings more than 28 years of experience and is widely recognized as a leader in trademark law. She is Chambers-ranked, named among the 80 Most Influential Women in IP by World Intellectual Property Review, and uniquely ranked by World Trademark Review in both “Trademark Prosecution/Management” and “Trademark Litigation & Enforcement.” Her expertise spans domestic and international trademark and brand protection, advertising law, unfair competition, copyright, and Internet law. Her practice includes trademark selection, prosecution, enforcement, litigation, TTAB proceedings, domain name disputes, and emerging AI-related issues. Natland has served as Chair of the USPTO’s Trademark Public Advisory Committee, contributed extensively to INTA through leadership roles, taught advanced trademark law at UCLA Law, and acted as virtual in-house counsel for a major technology company.

Sganga provides comprehensive counseling on trademark and copyright law, unfair competition, advertising, and Internet law. Her experience includes trademark selection, prosecution, enforcement, litigation, licensing, domain disputes, counterfeit goods, IP due diligence, rights of publicity, and e-commerce matters. She represents leading companies in the food and beverage, beauty, fashion, e-commerce, medical, and entertainment sectors. A multi-time honoree by World IP Review, Sganga is active in INTA and previously chaired the OCBA’s Entertainment, Sports & Marketing Section.

McMorrow advises clients across diverse industries on IP and advertising law, offering strategic guidance on IP agreements, branding, social media marketing, and advertising. She has litigated trademark, trade dress, domain name, false advertising, trade secret, patent, and copyright disputes in federal and state courts, before the TTAB and PTAB, and has contributed to favorable rulings for clients before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Supreme People’s Court of China. McMorrow has been recognized as “One to Watch” by The Best Lawyers in America and as a “Rising Star” by California Super Lawyers.
