Ghouls just wanna have fun: A guide to Halloween events in Southern California

From haunted houses and family-friendly pumpkin patches to massive street parties, Southern California is packed with Halloween celebrations this fall.

Here’s a guide to some of the events happening in the region.


Los Angeles County

Universal Studios Hollywood: Halloween Horror Nights
Universal Studios Hollywood’s 2025 Halloween Horror Nights lineup features haunted houses inspired by “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” “Terrifier,” “Poltergeist” and “Fallout.” Guests can also step into the Terror Tram: Enter the Blumhouse, with characters from “M3GAN” and “The Purge.” The event includes scare zones, themed food and “The Purge: Dangerous Waters” stunt show.

The event runs select nights from Sept. 4 to Nov. 2. Tickets can be purchased here.

Nights of the Jack, Calabasas
King Gillette Ranch glows with thousands of carved pumpkins through Nov. 3. This year includes a “SpongeBob SquarePants” installation and an “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” pre-show experience.

Los Angeles Recreation Centers
The city’s Department of Recreation and Parks is hosting free Halloween activities at recreation centers from Oct. 24–Nov. 1, including costume contests, music and games.

Boo at the L.A. Zoo
Set for Oct. 18–19 and Oct. 25–26, the event includes trick-or-treating, animal feedings, science activities and themed entertainment. Admission is included with a zoo ticket.

Heritage Square Museum
Street Food Cinema’s 21+ Halloween series runs Oct. 16–25 at Heritage Square Museum, pairing horror films with scare actors, food trucks and DJs.

Union Station: Boo-nion Station
The South Patio hosts a free family-friendly event Oct. 26–27 with trick-or-treating, dance parties and a costume contest.

West Hollywood: Halloween Carnaval
Billed as the world’s largest Halloween party, the West Hollywood Carnaval returns Oct. 31 with music, DJs and elaborate costumes.

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride, Griffith Park
The Haunted Hayride at Griffith Park’s Old Zoo features a tractor ride, haunted village, corn maze and scare zones. Runs select nights through Oct. 31.

Haunted Little Tokyo
Throughout October, Little Tokyo features pumpkin patches, haunted tours, games and themed food. A block party and parade are set for Oct. 27.

Dark Harbor at the Queen Mary, Long Beach
Dark Harbor runs through Nov. 2 with mazes including “Voodoo: The Queen’s Curse” and “Breakout: Maximum Security.” Guests can also explore speakeasies and interactive experiences.
