PETA wants’Hot Ones’ host to make vegan wings the default option

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, is asking Hot Ones host Sean Evans to make vegan wings the default option on the popular YouTube series.

On Hot Ones, celebrities are interviewed while sampling wings that grow progressively hotter.

“The searing pain from eating the hottest wing in the world is nothing compared to the agony many chickens feel when they’re dunked into scalding de-feathering tanks at slaughterhouses,” PETA president Tracy Reiman said in a statement. “PETA encourages Sean Evans to make Hot Ones as kind as it is spicy by serving only vegan wings that leave chickens in peace.”

In a letter, PETA said that the show “didn’t lose an ounce of spice” when numerous celebrity guests—including Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Lewis Hamilton, and Natalie Portman—chose to eat vegan wings during their interviews.

The organization also stated that it would name two rescued chickens “Sean” and “Evan” in his honor should he make the switch.

Evans has not responded to PETA’s request.
