Joe Kiani, founder of Masimo Corp., was appointed chief executive of Santa Monica-based media technology company Like Minded Labs.

Since Kiani’s removal from the board of Masimo last year, he has been getting involved in new ventures.
Four months ago, he announced the creation of a new company he founded called Willow Laboratories, which has created an app to help prevent the progression of prediabetes to Type 2 diabetes.
Kiani, as well as Mark Kassen and Jean Mayrand, are listed as co-founders of Like Minded Labs on its website.
The company also announced the appointment of Bob Chapek, former CEO of The Walt Disney Company, to its board of directors.
Chapek was previously on Masimo’s board of directors when Kiani was its chairman.
